PEKAES (Poland) terminal and warehouse in a new location in Pomerania

PEKAES, your Pangea partner in Poland and a leading logistics operator, has increased its terminal space in Pomerania. A new distribution terminal combined with a logistics warehouse is now at customers disposal. The investment aims to increase the operational capacity of the local groupage distribution and the flow of cargo from and to the ports of Gdańsk and Gdynia.

The new PEKAES facility is located on the Panattoni Park Airport in Gdańsk. It consists of two parts: a distribution terminal with an area of over 4,000 m2 and a logistics warehouse with a capacity of 9,500 pallet places. The smooth flow of goods is ensured by 41 loading and unloading ramps, 2 gates from the “0” level and 3 entry gates for distribution trucks. One of the entrance gate ramps is 63 meters long and is one of the longest ramps in the country. The total area of the terminal and warehouse is approximately 12,000 m2, while the office part takes up more than 800 m2.

“The newly-opened PEKAES terminal and warehouse in Pomerania perfectly meets the current needs of our customers, related to the growing number of shipments in this part of Poland. As the ports in Gdynia and Gdańsk play a key role on our sea route, the location of this investment is a great advantage. The new facility is located just a dozen or so kilometres from the port of Gdańsk. The location, optimally planned space, and modern infrastructure will certainly ensure greater competitiveness on the market and create opportunities for further expansion” – says Maciej Bachman, CEO of PEKAES.

Sea transport has become increasingly important in recent years, and Poland has become an important transhipment hub. The expansion of Polish ports has had a positive impact on the development of this part of PEKAES activity.

“In the last year, we noticed record increases in sea freight, which is why it was important to optimize the supply chain and provide a larger, conveniently located distribution area. I am convinced that the new facility in Gdańsk will result in an even faster transfer of cargo from Polish ports to PEKAES groupage terminals located throughout the country” – added Kajetan Jagłowski, Sea and Air Freight Forwarding Director, PEKAES.

The investment in Gdańsk is the first, but not the last project planned by PEKAES for the first half of 2021. The opening of two new facilities is planned for April this year.
